SKM's Caterpillars are designed to serve as metering or haul off units. The cable is guided between two caterpillar belts, which are pressed against the cable in independent roller sets. The gripping pressure and belt tension are pneumatically adjustable. Each roller has its own independent pneumatic cylinder to accommodate cable irregularities. Belts are driven through a multi speed gearbox. Draw off speed and traction force can be adjusted as required. The operating safety is ensured by a panel incorporating all necessary pressure gauges and control module.
